Find your Huddle. Or listen and learn.

All of our events are free, online, and confidential.

  • Join our facilitator and 5-6 parents or caregivers on Zoom. Leave with a plan and a team, and feeling a little less alone.

  • No waitlist, no judgment, no suggesting it’s all your fault.

  • Listen or participate as much as works for you.

Programs are led by The Huddle for Families director Jacqui Robbins. Learn more about Jacqui on our About Us page., or about private consultation here.

"I came in hoping to get ideas for how to support my child, and I did. But what really made a difference was hearing from other parents going through it too. Realizing we weren’t the only ones, that it wasn’t just us, was such a gift."

Holiday Huddle

Ah, the holidays. When we take awesome kids who crave structure, routine, and gentle care, and we leap into chaos, haphazardness, and judgy stares from family members who don’t get it. Oh, and there’s sugar, flashy lights, and a giant emphasis on being “good.”

This Huddle is for anyone dreading winter break, winter break travel, or facing the family. Let’s talk strategies for our kids and for ourselves, effectively educating Aunt Judith, and how to set up the support we all need.

November Huddle - PM

Maybe you’re mired in IEP and service team meetings. Maybe the honeymoon’s over and the school phone calls have started. Maybe it’s all good at school but home is a mess. Maybe you’ve read this month’s blog about ADHD and you’ve got questions.

Either way, let’s talk about it.

Ask questions, share, vent, or just listen and enjoy not feeling quite so alone.

Workshop: Making IEPs, 504s, and Safety Plans that actually help (daytime)

Workshop: Making IEPs, 504s, and Safety Plans that actually help (daytime)

Because “Student will engage in appropriate behaviour” is not a helpful goal.

You’re emailed a plan that’s 14 pages long and asked to approve. Half of it is vague enough to apply to a houseplant, and the other half makes your child sound like a serial killer.

But support plans and safety plans can be useful tools *if* they are specific, clear, and realistic for kids and teachers.

We’ll discuss:

  • what to figure out before the meeting to make sure it’s productive

  • how to help educators better support your child

  • ideas for support that’s realistic to implement even in busy classrooms

  • any questions you have

You’ll leave with a template you can fill and share, and the chance to sign up for a free 1:1 follow up session with Jacqui to prep for your meeting.

Workshop: Managing Your School Meeting: Advocacy, Follow-up, and Follow-Through (daytime)

A crash course in staying calm, making things clear, and getting stuff done.
Sometimes school meetings feel less like a collaboration and more like a performance review for your parenting or a trial for your child. We’ll talk about how to frame your advocacy, how to make sure you’re heard, and how to keep things from going off the rails.

This session offers practical advice for advocacy at school, including:

  • how to frame every meeting

  • ideas for making sure you’re heard and things happen

  • next steps if you’re not getting anywhere

  • answers to your questions

Workshop: When it's already hard: Triage for the first month of school

It’s not even officially fall, and the teacher’s already asking for “strategies.” Your kid’s holding it together, but you know it can’t last. And every pickup includes a “just one thing” comment that makes your stomach drop.

This session is about what to do when it’s already not working, and 10 things even busy teachers can try this week.

Workshop: Getting School Ready to Go Back to Your Child (PM)

Because your child deserves what they need from day one, not after things fall apart.

Kids with big feelings and big behaviours do not thrive on “let’s see how it goes.” This session offers practical advice and advocacy for helping school support your child, what to tell the teacher (and others) and things to have in place, plus a short template you can send that will actually get read.
